Pencil in (reserve) a GreenlistID

Any Greenlist ID can be put 'on hold.'

However, an accredited bank-registrar must set your ID permanently within thirty days or your selection is put back in the pool possibly for others to choose.

Proxy-registrars such as mobile phone companies, AOL, Skype, Twitter, Facebook can place Greenlist IDs on 'courtesy holds' for their customers.

However, Greenlist IDs from such sources must:
A.) be unique or "hold denied' message will be returned and
B.) registrants still must opt-in through a bank-registrar (within thirty days).

  1. I want 'Donald Trump' as my Greenlist ID.

  2. LOL. So do I. However, several features guard against someone intending to pay "The Donald" mistakenly putting money into your Greenlist ID, even if it IS DonaldTrump.

Scenario 1: your real name, city and phone number are displayed on the screen before you select the amount to pay "DonaldTrump" A bank would never permit a false identity being associated with a GreenlistID. That's one protection.

Scenario 2: you DO happen to snag "DonaldTrump" and the real Donald Trump comes along later and registers "DonaldTrump1" as his Greenlist ID. For every registrant, Greenlist generates an automatic Virtual ID (VID) number, similar to the CVV number on a credit or debit card. The VID protects against mistaken payments. Payers' banks may, at their option, require payers submit both a GLID and the correct VID before making a payment. This will likely be required of all high-net worth individuals and high volume accounts such as business accounts.

If the correct VID is not entered by the payer, then there would not be any risk whatsoever that someone who does not pay attention misses the fact that your name is being displayed instead of the real Donald Trump's. Because the lookup would return "Not Found" A payer wouldn't even know that the Donald Trump GLID was not in the system in the first place. So no accidental payment would be sent.

Scenario 3: Some payers' banks might choose to NOT require the VID to be necessary to perform a GLID Lookup and make a payment. This is envisioned for consumer accounts or very small $25.00 or less payments from a mobile phone where the user experience must be fast and easy. So IF you can convince lots of small payers to pay DonaldTrump (your chosen GreenlistID) and IF they happen to pay by phone and IF they happen to NOT pay attention to the rightful owner of the bank account, I suppose you COULD receive some payments that were intended for the REAL Donald Trump. That is until the REAL Donald Trump or more likely, the payer who did not receive goods or services purchased (or credit for a loan repaid) complained. In this unlikely event, the registrar bank for your "DonaldTrump" GLID would investigate and register a complaint in your reputation file.

It will be a policy decision among all Greenlist Registrar banks to determine how many complaints are permitted before de-listing stemming from non-performance or a purposefully false and misleading GreenlistID.
